You can develop skills

to manage, to compete.

But in order to win the game of life

you must stop straining and start noticing.

Such is the way life is.

The more rules you give yourself

the narrower you become.

The more you attack

the more you are destroyed.

The more you trust intellect alone

the more trouble you create.

The deeper you look at yourself

the more imperfection you find.

So wise guides advise:
Don't aim to perfect yourself.
Don't rush into changing yourself.
Just do what needs doing
while accepting your feelings.

(From the Tao Te Ching, translated by David K. Reynolds, Ph.D.)
